 Characters used in Japan

There are three types of characters used in Japan.
They are "Kanji", "Katakana", and "Hiragana".
I will explain in the order of birth.

Kanji

"Kanji" means Chinese characters.
Born in China, as the Chinese name implies.
Kanji came to Japan probably around the 1st century.
Therefore, there are two ways to read Kanji in Japan.
They are "on-yomi", which is how to read Chinese, and "kun-yomi", which is how to read Japanese.
For example, "風".
"風" is a Kanji that means wind.
On-yomi is "Fuu" and kun-yomi is "Kaze".

katakana

Katakana was born in Japan.
Katakana was created based on kanji in the middle of the 7th century.
As for how to make it, it was made by taking out a part of the kanji.
Katakana was originally a character for men.
The number of characters in katakana is 51.
However, currently 46 characters are mainly used.

Hiragana

Hiragana was also made based on Kanji.
Hiragana was born around the same time as katakana (mid-7th century).
As for how to make it, it was made by simplifying the Kanji.

Katakana was originally a character for women.
Therefore, hiragana has a cute rounded shape compared to katakana and kanji.
The number of characters in Hiragana is 51.
However, currently 46 characters are mainly used.
